Questionnaire

Q1. Are you?

For our questionnaires to be able to gain an equal opinion from people we asked the same amount of males as females. This allows us to be able to judges the results accurately and not really place any gender related conclusions which would complicate our results.

Q2. Age

These results show that besides having an equal amount of males and females to answer the questionnaires, we also had a large variety of age groups so that we could conclude whether sandwiches are eaten by different age groups and as shown by the pie chart it appears to be that students or people aged between 16-18 choose to eat sandwiches more.

Q3. What time do you tend to watch television?

For the results shown above it is easy to gather that the majority of people watch television from 4:00 pm, however as shown we also got a total of 5 for three different times which are 9:00 pm, 7:00 pm and 6:00 pm. From the chart we can conclude that people prefer to watch the television anytime after 5:00pm, and from this time up to 9:00 pm. Therefore when making our documentary we must cater to these results and make the documentary suitable for the target audience and the time that they want to see it.

Q4. What time would you expect to see a documentary on television?

It seems that the most popular answer was 9:00 pm and 7:00 pm, this seems to work in conjunction with the previous results as people said they watch television after 5:00pm and this shows that people would like to see one between the hours of 7:00 pm- 9:00 pm. This means that when we film the documentary and put it out we need to make sure that the time to put it on television is conjunction with what the target audience wants.

Q4i. Why do you think this?

As the chart shows the main reason that people gave was that they didn’t really know why they thought a documentary should be on between the times of 7:00pm – 9:00pm. This could suggest that because they have seen that many of them then they are just expecting them to be on around this time of the day which means that when planning we must meet peoples expectations about when the documentary should be shown on TV.

Q5. What is your favourite genre of music?

From this chart we can see that the most popular form of music for people is pop. Therefore this is the genre of music that we should put into our documentary as it is there most popular and will give us a better response from the audience.

Q6. Do you prefer bright or dark colours?

As shown by the chart the 2/3 of people prefer bright colours and this will run well with our theme which is sandwiches because it is something that makes people happy and it will also work well with the music being pop as this is also happy music.

Q7. What is your favourite font fro the list?

As the chart shows the people we asked to fill out the questionnaires said that they preferred the font Calibri (body) overall, and this could be because this will be the font that is used during the interviews to tell people who someone is and they don’t want the text to be a distraction to them whilst they are watching the documentary.

Q8. What is your favourite terrestrial channel to watch before watershed?

From the chart we can gather that the two most popular channels to watch before the watershed are ITV 1 and Channel 4. This gives us the knowledge that most people will be watching either one of these two channels and therefore to give ourselves the best opportunity to have our documentary seen by a mass audience we need to broadcast it on either one of these two channels.

Q9. What would you prefer the tone of the documentary to be?

From the results it is shown that the majority would prefer the tone to be happy and this is good as other results indicate the same thing as pp music was the most popular and also the theme is sandwiches which fit in well with the happy tone and the happy music.

Q10. Should the music represent the tone of the documentary?

As the chart shows nearly every person who filled out a questionnaire said that they want the music to match the tone of the documentary. This is good because it allows us now to link in the theme of sandwiches with the happy tone, bright colours and pop music together to make the documentary a really good exciting time for the audience whilst they watch.

Q10i. Why do you think this?

The chart shows that people thought that the music should represent the tone because they thought it made sense for it to do this and this is probably because they would like the documentary to avoid any opposing element or components, such as a happy tone wouldn’t work well with sad music.

Q11. How many times a week would you say you eat sandwiches?

This shows that people preferred to eat sandwiches either 1-3 times a week or 4-6 times a week and giving that the majority of people who ate sandwiches were either students or teenagers then this could possibly show that they eat them on a time that coincides with the school or college week.

Q12. Do you buy or make your own sandwiches?

The chart shows that more people prefer to buy sandwiches and this could also link in with the fact that it is mostly student or teenagers buy them and this would be because they can make their own at school or college so they have no other choice.

Q12i. What is your reason for you choice?

The main reason that people gave for them either buying or making their own sandwiches was that they found it easyer and preferable but also a lot of people found that they had more of a choice if they made it themselves. Therefore it appears that a subject of our documentary should be that people prefer buying them and then finding out the reasons why they prefer to so this.

Q13. If you were to buy a sandwich then where would you buy it from?

The chart shows that when people do buy sandwiches then they prefer to go to Subway more, but they also like to go to ASDA and Deli bars. This shows a contrast as Subway and Delis make them fresh in front of you and let you choose what you want, so it is kind of like a cross over of making your own and buying it and maybe this is because the ingredients will be of a better quality as the shops selling them are aiming to get business with their products.

Q13i. What is the reason for your choice?

As the chart shows the main reasons for going to Subway or Deli bars was because they are local and there’s not far to travel and they are also cost effective to buy as they are not too expensive. Also people gave the reason that the taste is nicer and also that they get to make their own selection but this is still the same if they make their own so this could possibly show that people have become a little bit depersonalised to making food themselves and also this poses the question, Have people become lazy when it comes to food?

Q14. Do you prefer hot or cold fillings?

This chart shows that people in general like hot and cold fillings exactly the same and this then means that this type of filling does not have an effect on people buying or making their own sandwiches.

Q14i.
What is the reason for your choice?

When we asked why they preferred hot or cold filling people gave us their opinion that it tastes nicer, however we got this answer for both hot and cold fillings and therefore all of the results in the chart can be taken either for hot of cold as their seems to be no preference of either hot or cold sandwiches and we must assume that what one person said for one would also say the same for the other.

Q15. What type of bread do you prefer?

The charts shows that people prefer white bread more than any other, and this makes sense as it is the easiest type of bread to find in shops like supermarkets and there is also a larger range of white bread to choose from.

Q16. What is your favourite spread?

From the results shown in the chart we can see that the most popular spread for people to have on their sandwiches is butter. This shows that people like simplicity on a sandwich as it is probably the most common thing to have on a sandwich. So if people like simplicity then when we are planning the documentary we need to make the aim and purpose seem plain and simple to the audience.

Q17. Do you like your sandwiches freshly made or pre made?

The chart shows that people prefer freshly made sandwiches, and this result link in with other results such as people prefer going to subway and deli bars as these are the places that make them fresh right in front of you. So from this we can gather that people would like to have their sandwiches freshly made, but they would also rather buy them instead of make their own and this further advances the argument that people have become disassociated with food.

Q17i. What is your reason for this?

border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5659352779673751490" />

This result is pretty conclusive as it shows that 19/30 think that freshly made taste nicer. This shows that freshly made sandwiches are more popular due to the taste and the prices due to other results we received.

Q18. What is your favourite filling on a sandwich?

The chart shows that meats had the highest ratings on the favourites for a sandwich and this is shown conclusively through the chart as Chicken, Beef and meat in general all make up more than half of the people asked. This could show the that there may not be a large vegetarian option in shops and this is something that we can look at when we make the documentary.

Q19. Do you think a sandwich is an anytime snack or is it only for certain times of the day?

As the chart shows, 2/3 people asked think that sandwiches are an anytime snack as this shows that something that has gone from being a lunchtime meal has become a part of everyday and anytime eating and this shows the popularity of this type of snack. This is also a topic we can look at when we make the documentary as it will help us to how the popularity of the sandwich in comparison to what it started as.

Q19i. Why do you think this?

The table shows that people didn’t really know why they thought it was an anytime snack. This could show that this has been an opinion for a long time an it just seems natural to people suggesting that this has been the opinion of people for a long time.

Q20. Do you think that sandwiches are for all occasions?

The charts shows that 2/3 people think that a sandwich is a good thing for all occasions and this links in with the result of the previous question about the sandwich being an anytime snack as we got the exact same result and it shows that not only do people think its and anytime snack but also an all occasions snack also. This is something that we will need to include in the documentary as it will generate a larger audience do to or results showing that more people have the same opinion on the flexibility of the sandwich.
